Advocacy: Joint working group to advance legislative reforms
The present provincial government believes in practical work rather than lip service

It is imperative civil society and parliamentarians work closely to protect the civil and political rights of women, minorities and youth. These views were expressed by Minister for Labour Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli on Tuesday during an introductory and planning meeting of K-P’s joint working group.
The minister pointed out, “The present provincial government believes in practical work rather than lip service and it will have to do a lot for the betterment of society in the coming two years.”

The meeting focused on civil and political rights of women, youth and minorities, and was attended by Parliamentary Women Caucus Vice Chairperson Naseem Hayat, MPA Aisha Naeem, Democracy Reporting International Provincial Coordinator Khalfan Khattak and other members.
While highlighting the importance of the working group, Zeb added, “The group will enable parliamentarians to utilise the technical knowledge of civil society representatives in order to advance legislative reforms in the assembly,” she said. “It will also help them advocate reforms within their respective political parties.”
