Japan extends Rs18m grant

Al-Khidmat Foundation will utilise its grant for installation of water filtration plants in the suburbs of Faisalabad

The government of Japan has extended financial support totalling $175,143 (over Rs18 million) to two Pakistani NGOs, Al-Khidmat Foundation and Shama Development Organisation, for the implementation of social development projects for disadvantaged communities in the country.


The agreements for two projects were signed on December 8 at the Japanese ambassador’s residence in Islamabad.


Al-Khidmat Foundation will utilise its grant of $85,717 for the installation of water filtration plants in the suburbs of Faisalabad District. A grant of $89,426 was allotted to Shama Development Organisation, to enable construction of primary and middle schools for both boys and girls in Rawalakot, Azad Jammu and Kashmir.


Once constructed, the school is expected to benefit 171 students currently studying in a rented building. Ambassador Inomata assured continuous support to Pakistani communities and hoped that the projects signed today would strengthen the bilateral relations.
