FCR: MNA urges govt to repeal existing system in FATA

Khyber Agency MNA whole-heartedly reaffirmed his support for the ongoing military action against militants

JAMRUD:

MNA from Khyber Agency Haji Shahjee Gul Afridi has urged the government to repeal the existing legal and administrative system in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and threatened to boycott the 2018 general elections if this demand was not met. He expressed these views while addressing the inauguration ceremony of Jamrud Press Club on Monday.

In his address, Shahjee Gul who is also leading the Fata parliamentarians expressed his disapproval with the existing legal and administrative set up. He said, “All the problems of Fata can be resolved if the system inherited from the British Raj ends.” Shahjee Gul said it was time for the government to honour wishes of tribespeople. “I will wage a war for the rights of tribespeople and boycott the elections of 2018,” he added. Shahjee Gul believed contesting or winning elections under the existing set up was meaningless.

At the ceremony, the Khyber Agency MNA whole-heartedly reaffirmed his support for the ongoing military action against militants and termed it “beneficial for the whole country and its people.”
