Student killed as gunmen open fire on school van in K-P

Unidentified assailants opened fire at Kherokel Private School's van as it was enroute to the school

A grade 10 student was killed on Thursday as armed men opened fire on a school van in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Lakki Marwat District.

According to initial reports, unidentified assailants opened fire at Shams Public School's van as it was enroute to dropping students home after school; in the Shahbaz Khel area.

The student, Sohail, was sat sitting atop the van when assailants stopped the van and opened fire. As a result of the firing, the grade 10 student was killed on the spot, while others remained unhurt.

Further, reports revealed that the boy was killed over enmity with the family.

Following the incident, police cordoned off the area and an investigation and search operation has commenced. An FIR was also lodged on the same day.
