Criticises cultural exchange between Pakistan, India

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is spreading intolerance through “policies of hate”.
He was speaking to the media during his visit to Charsadda on Thursday. Siraj said Modi was disregarding minorities in India.
“As a result, a new freedom struggle is emerging in Kashmir and other areas against the India government,” he said. “The people of India lack basic facilities. However, the BJP-led government is focusing on spreading hate instead of providing its people with basic necessities of life.”
The JI chief said peace in India is directly linked to the freedom struggle in Kashmir.
He also criticised the policy of cultural exchange between Pakistan and India. “Without solving the Kashmir dispute, these confidence-building measures have no value,” he said. “Durable peace in the subcontinent is only possible if the Kashmir issue
is resolved.”
He also emphasised the need for peaceful relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan saying President Ashraf Ghani’s visit to Pakistan was “a positive sign for restoration of peace between the two nations.”
On Karachi
Siraj said if JI was voted to power in Karachi during the local government polls, it will turn it into a developed city like Istanbul.
He threw his weight behind recent operations in Karachi, saying they have helped restore peace and stability.
“The whole nation is on the same page about ongoing operations in Karachi, which is good for the country as unity is the need of the hour,” he added.
On federal govt
Earlier, Siraj addressed a news conference at Jamia Islamia Tafheemul Quran in Mardan. He criticised the federal government for imposing new taxes on 351 different commodities to establish a “mini-budget” at the behest of IMF and World Bank.
“Moreover,” he said, “Changes in the route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will not be accepted.”
