LAHORE: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qamar Zaman Chaudhry said all complaints against NAB employees are scrutinised and investigated by qualified intelligence and vigilance experts with the help of senior officers.

“Such elements – who for reasons of inefficiency, misconduct, malpractice and violation of laid down standard operating procedures (SOPs) bring a bad name to the organisation – are promptly dealt under the law,” he remarked while visiting NAB Lahore to review its performance on Wednesday.

Director General Major (retd) Syed Burhan Ali gave a detailed briefing to the chairman about the performance of NAB Lahore, saying it has authorised 277 complaint verifications, 320 inquiries and 200 investigations.

NAB Lahore has filed 82 corruption references in the respective accountability courts and arrested 153 corrupt people during
2015, he added.

Zaman Chaudhry directed all NAB Lahore officials that all complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations should be completed transparently, in time and on the basis of evidence on merit under the laws.

He said that every investigation officer should maintain case diary and it should be checked by the desk officer at least twice a week and once a week by the director of the wing.

He emphasised that proper evidential proof must accompany with every case and directors of all wings must maintain transparency, merit and accuracy.

Earlier, the chairman inaugurated Qamar Zaman Block in NAB Lahore.
