The local administration and police had put in place security arrangements including containers on the road in different areas of Sector G, to secure routes leading to the venue. The road blockade also had a cascading effect on traffic as a whole. Backed up traffic could be witnessed in different areas as far as the F-sectors, including the Seventh and Ninth Avenues.
Security officials, bomb disposal squad personnel and members of Pak-Haideri Scouts frisked people before they were allowed to enter the main venue where the congregation was being observed.
Speaking on the occasion, religious scholars said Imam Hussain and his companions faced the wrath of a tyrant and his forces, but did not surrender as they were fighting for the cause of truth.
The speakers urged participants to follow in the footstep of Imam Hussain and his companions, and raise their voices in favour of the oppressed in society.
The scholars also urged for religious harmony and unity within the Musim Ummah to thwart the designs of detractors.
Later, the participants of the congregation dispersed peacefully before and the blockades were removed from the roads.
