Further, two injured were pulled out with the help of local people and were shifted to a nearby hospital for provision of medical treatment.

Efforts are underway to recover the remaining people. However, the flow of water is reportedly creating hurdles in rescue activities.

Earlier in May, at least three tourists lost their lives when their car fell into the Kunhar River near Faridabad, some 15 kilometres from Balakot. Five tourists were in a car when it plunged into the river. Two of them were rescued and are in critical condition, while the bodies of the three other could not be retrieved.
