102 medical graduates enter the real world

KARACHI:

A total of 102 students of the Liaquat National Hospital (LNH) and Medical College were awarded degrees during the third convocation of the university on Monday.

The batch 2014 graduates had gathered at Liaquat National Hospital convention centre and were conferred degrees by University of Karachi vice-chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser.



Today is the last day of academics for the graduates but the beginning of a new phase of life, said LNH medical director Salman Faridi while addressing the students. The doctor's words are no longer considered to be final so the young doctors need to be equipped to help the patients, he said. He added that in the past it was the patient and the doctor but now, in these modern times a third partner, the media has also emerged enabling people to know the things, which they did not in the past.



Medals of excellence were awarded to students whose performance in their MBBS finals stood out. Dr Muhammad Abdul Malik Farooqi was awarded with a gold medal. The silver medal was shared between Dr Sundus Zehra and Dr Hafsa, whereas, the Bronze Medal was shared between Dr Wajiha Zubair and Dr Neelam Tahir Khaskheli.
