Judge on leave: Ayyan yet to get back passport

The suspect has assured the court in her personal guarantee that she would appear before the court at every hearing

Money-laundering suspect Ayyan Ali is yet to get back her passport after a court ordered customs officials to return the model’s passport on November 25.


Ali appeared before a banking court on Saturday to submit surety bonds and a personal guarantee but was told to submit the documents to customs court. Customs judge Rana Aftan Ahmed Khan was on leave on Saturday. The suspect will now appear before the court to submit surety bonds on Monday.

The suspect has assured the court in her personal guarantee that she would appear before the court at every hearing.

Sources said after getting her passport, the model will request the interior ministry and the high court to get her name off the exit control list (ECL).

Ayyan was arrested by Customs officials from Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad on March 14 after $506,800 were recovered from her luggage. She was taken to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
