PML unification: We’re all in this together

The phrase ‘birds of a feather flock together’ seems to perfectly encapsulate the recent political atmosphere as attempts are being made by different factions of the Muslim League to reunite and ‘save’ themselves as well as the country from catastrophe.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), Quaid League, and the Awami National Party (ANP) are at present cooperating as a group, keeping in mind their vested interests.

The Quaid League, also known as the pet league of former President Pervez Musharraf, has joined what it once considered an unholy alliance and is shamelessly cozying up to the PPP leaders under the media glare.

President Asif Ali Zardari seems to be the main target of all vitriol, with the new alliance levelling extremely obnoxious charges against him.


In response, PPP leaders are also blatantly indulging in the blame game. It seems as though the parties have no time for soul-searching.

As far as PML-N is concerned, some outspoken elders and politically mature countrymen have been viewing the advances of the N-League leader Nawaz Sharif as immature and delusional. It is a futile venture for which he will have to lament, they say.

And the concern is not only limited to political circles. Even the common man on the street is worried about Nawaz’s performance as a political leader at this critical juncture.

If Nawaz joins the jugglers’ group and repeats his folly he is likely to lose and perhaps even vanish from the political scene for good.
