LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday ordered the Punjab University to hold the election for its senate within one month. The court was hearing a contempt of court petition filed by Assistant Professor Javed Sami. The petitioner stated that the court had earlier ordered the PU VC to demote his wife, Shazia Qureshi, as she had been illegally promoted. “The VC had given an undertaking that the election for the senate will be held before October 17. However, this did not happen.” He requested the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the VC. PU Registrar Dr Liaqat Ali said that Qureshi had returned the three-month salary which she had received as a professor.
