A marriage called off: Woman shot dead in city

PESHAWAR: A woman was gunned down at her house within the jurisdiction of Banamarhi police station on Sunday. According to a police official, the deceased has been identified as Kianat Bibi, daughter of Aziz Khan. “Rehmat and his brother Zafar entered Aziz Khan’s house and opened fire at Kainat,” he said. “She died on the spot while the assailants managed to escape.” According to the police official, Kainat was betrothed to Zafar. “However, the family soon discovered he was already married and broke off the engagement,” he said. “This is believed to be the main cause of Kainat’s death.” An FIR was registered.
