Bureaucracy: 62 officials sent back to original posts

Notification of transfer issued following SHC orders.

KARACHI: Following the orders of the Sindh High Court, the termination notice of 62 officials of the federal and provincial departments has been issued by the Sindh government on Tuesday.

According to the notification, the federal-government employees will be transferred back to the federal departments, while the employees of the departments under the Sindh government will be sent back to their original posts.

On December 14, 2010, the division bench of the Sindh High Court heard a constitutional petition and ordered the Sindh government to revert employees who had been appointed on deputation basis as this was giving way to corruption and affecting governance. The court had also directed the government to submit a report.

After following the court’s orders, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said the government will not compromise on good governance.

The 34 officials deputed back to their previous departments in the federal government include employees from Pakistan Railways, commerce and trade group, National Accountability Bureau, Intelligence Bureau, military engineering, income tax and audit and accounts.

Meanwhile, the 28 employees sent back to the provincial departments include employees from departments of local government, health, education and literacy, agriculture, Karachi Building Control Authority, excise and taxation, culture and tourism, women development, finance, planning and development, City District Government Karachi, Sindh small industries, works and services, labour and revenue.
