To streamline payment mechanism for tutors and resource persons, the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has planned to automise payment through bank accounts.

The university in this regard signed a MoU with a private bank on Wednesday.

The bank will issue ‘Lite Cards’ so people can receive remuneration payment instantly anywhere in the country, said a press release.

It explained that the card will be acceptable internationally for any payment and fund transfer. Its users will be able to use it electronically through mobile phone application all over the world.

AIOU VC Dr Shahid Siddiqui termed the agreement a milestone and said the payments through ATM will facilitate over 100,000 tutors and resource persons in their hometowns.

He said the university will extend this facility to retired employees as well.
