BAHAWALPUR: Minister of State for Education Balighur Rehman said on Saturday that development projects should be completed according to schedule.

He was speaking at a meeting convened at the commissioner’s office to review progress on development work. Rehman said development projects should be planned in accordance with future needs so that consequent generations could take advantage of them. While reviewing progress on the Rs170 million-Sewerage Line Project, the minister said work on the initiative had slowed down. He said this must be remedied and the project must be completed as was originally planned. Those present on the occasion were informed that the 6000 feet long sewerage line would be cleaned in 90 days. They were told that the initiative would be completed at a cost of Rs3 million.

Provincial Minister for Cooperatives Iqbal Channar directed officials to transparently plan and complete the project by approaching public finances as a sacred trust. The commissioner emphasised the importance of effective coordination between various departments working on development projects.

He said this would minimise the probability of encountering difficulties in this regard.

He said action would be taken against officials in case of poor planning and construction standards. The commissioner said the Sewerage Line Project would be completed in four months.
