Firing on cops: Man awarded 27 years imprisonment

ATC Judge Rai Muhammad Ayub Marth announced the verdict after hearing all the arguments in the case

RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday awarded 27-year rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs111,000 to a man convicted of firing on police officials. Lal Bilal Khanzada, the convict, opened fire on police when they tried to arrest him in connection with an auto-theft case in Wah Cantt last year. ASI Tahir Ishaq was seriously injured in the firing. ATC Judge Rai Muhammad Ayub Marth announced the verdict after hearing all the arguments in the case. Another accused, Noor Khan, was declared a proclaimed offender for his failure to appear before the court.
