LAHORE:

Sanda police registered a case on Sunday against a man accused of mistreating his six-year-old niece.

SHO Nasir Hamid said Bushra, who was an orphan, lived with her uncle Fayyaz at his house near Sanda Kalan Hospital. Neighbours told police that her uncle would often mistreat and beat her up. On Sunday, several neighbours called the police and complained that Fayyaz had beaten up the child and thrown her out on the street.

Police then arrived at the scene and took Fayyaz into custody. They took Bushra to a hospital for medical examination and later handed her over to the Child Welfare and Protection Bureau. Police said they had registered an FIR against Fayyaz on a complaint filed by Hafiz Abdul Ghaffar, one of his neighbours.
