LAHORE:

A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench on Monday sought a complete inquiry report from the Home Department on a petition filed by a man detained under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1961.

Qari Muhammad Ismail, the petitioner, told the court through his counsel that the Faisalabad DCO had issued orders for his detention following directions from the Counter Terrorism Department. He said he was not affiliated with any of the banned organisations.

A representative of the Home Department told the court he was not aware of any ongoing inquiry against the petitioner.

“The petitioner has been under detention for more two months, but no inquiry report has been submitted to the court so far,” the judge said. The court directed the department to submit the report and adjourned the hearing till August 30.
