Amid Festivities: UoP commemorates independence

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan raised the flag

PESHAWAR: A number of events were held at University of Peshawar (UoP) to commemorate the 69th Independence Day, stated a press release issued by the varsity on Saturday.  “On Friday evening, students, faculty and administrative staff attended a Quran Khwani at the mosque on the varsity’s premises,” read the statement. “Later, a ceremony was held at the Convocation Hall where Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan raised the flag.” According to the press release, a parade was also held at the university.“Cops belonging to the campus police marched to tunes of patriotic songs,” the statement added. “A book exhibition was also organised at the Central Library in collaboration with Pakistan Study Centre. Moreover, a photo exhibition on the milestones of the Pakistan Movement was also held.” A large number of students sang patriotic songs and performed skits.
