ISLAMABAD:

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Law Director Najma Azhar has been served a charge sheet for allegedly facilitating a deputationist to get absorbed in the civic agency after she failed to notice a bar while processing the file.

A CDA official told Online that a committee head by CDA Member Planning Waseem Ahmed has been constituted to probe how Tanver Hashmi, who is on deputation, was offered a permanent position in the civic agency without due process.

According to the official, Azhar had also been accused of embezzling the sum of a bank guarantee of a contractor, who had deposited the cash to get a contract for the construction work of the IJ Principal Road.

Later, when the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) took up the matter, she deposited the bank guaranteed to the authority.  When contacted, Azhar denied that she has any role in getting the deputationist accommodated in the civic agency on a permanent basis. “The charge sheet against me is beyond my comprehension,” she said.

She, however, admitted that she returned the bank guarantee to the CDA after NAB intervened.
