Bomb attack derails Shalimar Express in Rahim Yar Khan

The remote-controlled bomb destroyed a three-foot section of the track

RAHIM YAR KHAN: An improvised bomb explosion tore off a section of the track in Chandrami area Rahim Yar Khan district early on Sunday morning derailing the Shalimaar Express, Express News reported.

According to initial details, a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated, destroying a three-foot section of track just as Shalimaar Express, was passing through Rahim Yar Khan.

With a section of the track destroyed, the Shalimar Express derailed. However, there were no immediate reports of any casualties.

After the blast, rescue workers were dispatched to the spot for relief work.

Militants have targeted rail tracks with bombs, with a number of trains derailing. However, most of the attacks have been limited to Balochistan and Sindh.
