LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge sought comments on Tuesday from the Factory Area SHO on a petition seeking a case against another man for helping the petitioner print fake currency notes.

Sajjad Hussain Shah has requested the court to order an FIR against Mehar Muhammad under Section 489/D (possessing material for counterfeiting currency notes) of the Pakistan Penal Code. He said Muhammad had registered an FIR against him in 2001. “Muhammad mentioned in the FIR that I had asked him to lend me Rs200,000 so that I could buy a chemical to print fake currency notes. He said I had promised to pay him Rs500,000 in return,” Shah said. He said Muhammad had admitted that he had given him (the petitioner) Rs200,000.

He said a court had later acquitted him of the charge after the prosecution failed to establish his involvement. He said an FIR should be registered against Muhammad for giving him the money to print forged currency.
