KARACHI:

Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) chief Afaq Ahmed announced on Monday that his party will celebrate this year's Independence Day in a unprecedented way to counter the notion that he believes is raising skepticism on the patriotism of Urdu speaking community after the recent controversial statement by Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain.

The MQM-H chairperson said that his party workers will install camps across the city to mark the 68th birthday of the country for which 'their forefathers made sacrifices.'

Ahmed, who was released from the prison on bail in 2011 after a seven-year-long detention, explained that this move do not have any political motives. "There is no doubt that Altaf Hussain is an anti-state element and this is evident from the statements he gave against the creation Pakistan and the forces guarding its sovereignty," said Ahmed.
