The Punjab government has approved Rs195 million for purchase of state-of-the-art medical and surgical equipment and construction of an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for children in the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH).


Around Rs145 million has been approved for the purchase of modern apparatus for laboratory, operation theatre and different wards of the hospital while Rs50 million for the construction of the children ICU in this hospital, said BBH Medical Superintendent Dr Asif Qadir Mir.


He said that funds have been sanctioned on the request of the hospital management. He said work on the projects will start soon.


Dr Mir said that a 10-bed children ICU will be constructed at hte hospital besides upgrading the emergency.
