KARACHI:

The Sindh IG, Ghulam Hyder Jamali, has ordered the police to increase patrolling and snap checking at the entry and exit points of the city to avoid any untoward incident on the eve of Eidul Fitr.

According to a statement issued by the Central Police Office on Sunday, Jamali directed the relevant police officials to formulate a contingency plan, while keeping the investigations of the already arrested terrorists and criminals in view. He added that extra security should be deployed at mosques, Imambargahs, public places, places of worship and shopping centres to avoid any untoward incident.

"Security should be beefed up at all the entry and exit points of the city and all the vehicles entering the city should be checked," he directed. "Police check posts should also be established on the highways to protect the passengers arriving and leaving the city ahead of Eidul Fitr."
