KARACHI: Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisamul Haq Qureshi and his partner, Luxembourg's Gilles Muller, crashed out of the Wimbledon on Saturday as they lost to French pair Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicholas Mahut 3-1 in the men’s doubles event.

Having won the first set with two aces and six winners 7-6 (11-9), the pair failed to contain the French duo in the second set as they leveled the match 7-6.

Herbert and Mahut went on to take the third 6-4 set.

Aisam and Muller tried to claw their way back into the match but fell to four winners from Herbert and Mahut to lose the fourth set 6-4, and subsequently lose the match 3-1.

Mahut and Herbert hit 14 aces compared to Aisam and Mullers' six and won 158 points in the three-hour match.

The loss means an early end to Aisam’s Wimbledon tournament since he had earlier lost in the first round of the mixed doubles event along with his partner Russia’s Vera Dushevina.
