SBP announcement: Fresh notes distribution from June 25

The branches of commercial banks/MFBs will start issuing fresh currency notes from July 2

KARACHI: In line with its tradition, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that it will utilise the large branch network of commercial banks all over the country and the 16 field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation for distribution of fresh currency notes to the general public to meet their needs for Eidul Fitr celebrations. SBP BSC field offices will start issuance of fresh notes with effect from June 25, 2015 through their counters till the last working day before Eidul Fitr. The branches of commercial banks/MFBs will start issuing fresh currency notes from July 2. Under these arrangements, one packet each of Rs10, 20 and 50 notes will be issued to each member of general public while, fresh notes of Rs100 will be issued as per stock availability. For obtaining fresh currency notes, the general public would be required to show their original Computerised National Identity Card, or Smart Card at bank’s counter and each member of public will be entertained once.
