Safoora suspects remanded in school attacks, murder cases

The investigating officer sought their custody for questioning and the judge of ATC-II handed them over to the police

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) remanded on Thursday two Safoora bus attack suspects in four others cases of sectarian killings and attacks on schools till June 24.


The police produced Tahir Hussain Minhas alias Sain and Saad Aziz alias Tin Tin alias John before the ATC-II and contended that they were arrested in some other cases and confessed to their involvement in the present cases.

The investigating officer sought their custody for questioning and the judge of ATC-II handed them over to the police on physical remand till June 24.

Both suspects have been booked for allegedly hurling a hand grenade at the Beaconhouse school in North Nazimabad in March this year, while Saad along with his absconding accomplices, was accused of allegedly killing a minor girl and injuring many women and children in a grenade attack during a Muharram majlis at the Islamic Research Centre Imambargah in October last year.

Tahir and some absconders was also booked in two other cases for allegedly killing the power utility's deputy general manager, Farhan Khalil, in March 2013 in North Nazimabad and killing Mudassar Harooni and his eight-year-old son in New Karachi in September 2013 .

Recently, the suspects have also been remanded in four others cases, including that of social activist Sabeen Mahmud's murder. But they have still not been implicated in the case they were arrested for.
