At least 15 militants were killed in separate search operations launched by Frontier Corps in the troubled Panjgur, Kalat and Kholu districts of Balochistan on Monday.

According to an FC spokesperson, acting on a tip-off, the force carried out a search operation in the Promh area of Panjgur district, killing four militants. Another was killed in a separate raid in Kholu district.

“Four militants were killed and automatic weapons recovered from their custody in the ensuing search operation [in Panjgur],” the spokesman said, adding that militants were involved in carrying out deadly attacks on security forces, FWO construction company and innocent people in the district. “One militant was killed in an exchange of fire in Kholu after Frontier Corps raided a terrorist hideout. Another militant was taken into custody,” the spokesperson added. Meanwhile in Kalat, at least nine militants were killed and two others injured as FC officers raided a hideout in Harboi area late Monday, an official said, adding that the exchange of fire is still going on.

“Two security personnel also got injured in the firefight,” the official said. The militants were reportedly planning to attack FC check posts and PPL projects in Harboi. More Frontier Corps personnel were rushed to the area for back-up.

Earlier, the FC claimed recovery of huge cache of arms and ammunition in search operations in Turbat and Kachi districts. An unspecified number of militants were also arrested from the two areas.
