LAHORE:

The federal government should immediately withdraw its decision to raise prices of petroleum products in the country, demanded a resolution submitted in the Punjab Assembly secretariat by Opposition Leader Mehmoodur Rasheed on Monday.

Speaking to the media, Rasheed said the decision would lead to inflation in prices of food items and other basic needs like public transport. He said the government had failed to pass to the consumers the full benefit of the decline in petroleum prices in the global market.

A call attention notice was submitted in the assembly secretariat by Sibtain Khan, the deputy opposition leader, on the murder of MPA Rana Shamshad Khan and his son. The notice sought an inquiry to arrest those responsible for the murder. MPA Rana Shamshad Khan and three other men, including his son, were shot dead by unidentified men in Kamoke on Sunday night.
