The police on Wednesday registered a drunk-driving case against an assistant sub inspector (ASI) who hit a motorcyclist in the jurisdiction of Kohsar Police Station, sources said.


The Kohsar police registered a case against ASI Ali Raza after he hit Muhammad Sarwar, a motorcyclist, on Fazle Haq Road last night. A police source said Raza had been drinking and was going for dinner to a restaurant in Blue Area.

The ASI, who is deputed at Police Lines, lost control of his car and hit a motorcyclist, injuring him, said a police offical. The police have registered a case for rash driving on a public roadway.

The Kohsar SHO confirmed that the policeman was arrested and an FIR has been registered under Section 279. He claimed that charges related to drinking would be added in the FIR after police received a medical report.
