KARACHI:

Two labourers died, while another sustained injuries, when an elevator at a local factory fell due to excessive weight, within the limits of SITE-A police station.

Police said the victims were identified as Asghar, 50, son of Muhammad Ishaq and Rashid, 42, son of Ovais, while the injured was identified as 24-year-old Adnan.

The police said the victims were using the elevator to transport garment supplies to an upper floor of the building when the incident occurred. "They were immediately shifted to the hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival," said the duty officer, adding that the injured victim was still at the hospital receiving treatment.

The factory, Ittihad dining factory, is located near Naurus Chowrangi. Despite several attempts being made to contact them, the owners of the factory could not be reached, according to the police. "We are still waiting them to register the case," said the duty officer.
