Man injures self over daughter’s decision

LAHORE:

A man injured himself on court premises after his daughter told the court on Wednesday that she wanted to go to live with her husband rather than stay with her parents.

The woman had married a Christian man who had converted to Islam in order to marry her.  Her parents had brought her back to their house. Her husband had then filed a habeus corpus petition seeking directions to police to recover his wife.

The woman’s parents said that she had told them that she would tell the court that she did not want to return to her husband. However, on Wednesday, the woman asked the court to be allowed to return to her husband.

After walking out of the court room, her father banged his head against an electricity pole, injuring himself badly. He also raised hue and cry. The woman refused to leave the courtroom saying that if she did, her parents would “kill her”. Police escorted her to the entrance of the court premises after her parents had left the court.
