RAWALPINDI:

Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has directed the police to increase security for prisoners when they are taken to courts.

“The security around lock-ups in police stations and in courts should be enhanced to prevent escape of prisoners”, he said and added that no one should be allowed to meet the prisoners in court lock-ups.

He issued these directions to City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi and district police officers of Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal at a meeting held on Monday.

The RPO also ordered tight security when prisoners are being transported to and from courts. He said that prison vans should be inspected every time before inmates board them.
