QUETTA: A senior leader of the Jamaat-e-Islami on Saturday described the Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain’s recent statement as “an incursion on the Pakistan Army”.

Addressing a news conference at JI’s provincial office in Quetta on Saturday, JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch said Altaf Hussain clearly sought help from Indian spy agency RAW. “That is an incursion on the sovereignty of Pakistan and Pakistan Army,” he added.

“The government should take strict action against the MQM chief. In future, no one should be allowed to provoke Pakistanis with hate speech,” Liaquat Baloch remarked.

Talking about the economic corridor project with China, Liaquat Baloch said political parties in Pakistan are reluctant about the proposed Gwadar-Kashghar trade route, because it will pass through Balochistan, K-P and some parts of Punjab. “Unfortunately, the federal government itself is increasing complexities over the Pak-China economic corridor,” he said.

He claimed that the changes in the proposed route would be beneficial to the enemies of Pakistan.

Welcoming the all parties conference (APC) call by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on May 13, he said, it was a good move by PML-N as it would be helpful to address reservations of concerned political parties.

Talking about the law and order situation in the province, Liaquat Baloch said: “From day one, Jamaat-e-Islami had been consistent in its stance that the use of force can’t resolve any conflict.”
