New beginnings: CM appoints law and order adviser

Barrister Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui was appointed adviser to the chief minister for law and order on Thursday by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah. According to the official notification, the chief minister made the decision on the advice of Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and will take effect immediately. Siddiqui is a senior advocate and has had close relations with the Pakistan Peoples Party. He is a barrister at law and, over the years, has developed expertise in litigation relating to banking, finance, mortgage finance, Islamic finance, corporate law, mergers, amalgamation and constitutional law. He has drafted specialised agreements for various projects, by-laws of statutory organisations and has also looked after restructuring arrangements and legal audits on behalf of various banks in Pakistan. Siddiqui has also advised financial institutions on various aspects of Islamic finance.
