KARACHI: A glassware warehouse near Lasbela Chowrangi suffered a loss worth thousands of rupees when it caught fire on Monday. A fire official said that the fire was controlled after five hours with the help of five fire trucks, two from the Saddar Fire Station, one from the Orangi Town Fire Station and two from the Nazimabad Fire Station. The blaze may have started due to short-circuit but the exact reason has yet to be determined. The fire official said the Karachi fire brigade staff had not received overtime payment for around four months despite working overtime for four hours a day, including Sunday. The fire department is working without water bowsers, which could have prevented significant damage.
