MPA Malik Javed Iqbal said on Saturday no government could bring development without being cognizant of the needs of the people it was serving.

He expressed these views at the opening of a primary school in Dhok Wadhial Mardwal.

He said Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab was a comprehensive programme to tackle challenges of education in the province. He said efforts were being made to provide missing facilities at all schools.

He said without advancement in education, there could be no development. He said nations which had focused on education were global powers.

“We must educate and empower our youth if we are to move forward,” he said.

Addressing the ceremony, former councillor Malik Muhammad Ali said teaching staff for the school had been recruited.

He said the school had been set up at a cost of Rs2.89 million.
