The Technical and Vocational Training Authority would train 450 students at its selected institutions under the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme, Tevta chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh told a meeting at the authority’s secretariat on Monday.


“The students will be trained in the collaboration with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission. The admission process has been completed,” he said. Sheikh said the training programme was extension of Phase I in which Tevta had trained more than 4,600 students. He said the Tevta had identified seven institutions for the purpose.

These include the Government Technical Training Institute, Sargodha; the Government Technical Training Centre, Kanganpur; the Government Technical Training Centre, Dinga; the Government Vocational Training Institute, DG Khan; the Government Technical Training Institute, Kamalia; and the Centre for Agricultural Machinery and Industries, Mian Channu. The duration of the courses is six months. The courses are being offered in motor winding, general electrician, electrician, dress making, machinist, AutoCAD and welding. Trainees will get a monthly stipend of Rs2,000. He said those who had passed grade eight exams were eligible for the scheme.
