ISLAMABAD:

Court reserved judgment on objections raised by lawyers representing former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry against Babar Awan working as PTI chief Imran Khan’s defence lawyer in a Rs20 billion defamation suit.

The judgment is expected to be issued on Monday. Chaudhry’s lawyers filed an application arguing that Awan had grudges against the former CJ.

Sheikh Ahsanuddin told the court that Awan had failed to file a reply to objections raised by Chaudhry’s lawyers, despite court order.

Khawar Bukhari, representing Awan, said that under bar council rules, a Supreme Court lawyer can represent anyone. He said the court has no authority to hear an objection raised over a lawyer.
