PTI announces candidates for 7 cantt boards

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Punjab on Tuesday announced its candidates for the upcoming local elections in seven cantonment boards across the province.


A list issued by the party’s provincial body mentioned candidates for cantonment boards in Multan, Jhelum, Sanjwal, Kharian, Kamra, Attock and Mangla.

In Multan Cantonment Board, candidates were announced for nine of the 10 Wards. Dr Waheed Sial will contest elections on a PTI ticket for Ward 1, Muzammil Shah in Ward 2, Mooni Syed in Ward 4, Qalb Abid Khan in Ward 5, Yaqoob Sohra in Ward 6, Qazi Fazal Hussain in Ward 7, Saleem Nasir in Ward 8, Sheikh Yaseen in Ward 9 and Col (retd) Zaigham in Ward 10. Tuesday’s statement claimed that so far there was no other contestant in Ward 10.

Party ticket for Jhelum Cantonment Board Ward 1 was allotted to Raja Nisarullah Khan; for Mangla Cantonment Board Ward 1 to Qazi Tariq Aslam; for Kharian Cantonment Board Ward 1 to Shakeel Ahmad Basra and Ward 2 to Masood Ahmad Chohan; for Attock Cantonment Board Ward 1 to Taimoor Aslam and Ward 2 to Zahoor Ahmad; for Kamra Cantonment Board Ward 1 to Malik Akmal Shafiq and Ward 2 to Farrukh Seher; and for Sajwal Cantonment Board Ward 1 to Rehmatullah Niazi.

PTI Punjab President Ejaz Chauhdry said tickets had been issued after extensive consultation between provincial and district committees of the party. He said he was confident about PTI’s success in the elections scheduled for April 25.
