FAISALABAD:

Doctors at Faisalabad Divisional Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) and Allied Hospital on Wednesday observed a strike to protest against the government for delay in upgrading the service structure.

The strike was called by the Young Doctors’ Association (YDA). The doctors did not work at the outpatient departments (OPDs).

They also staged a sit-in at Jail Road in front of the Allied Hospital and blocked it for traffic. They chanted slogans against the government.

Talking to newsmen, YDA Faisalabad President Muhammad Ali said young doctors were being victimised by bureaucrats. He said the government had promised to upgrade their service.

“These promises were never kept,” he said.

He said the YDA would continue to boycott work s until their demands were met.
