Not a neo entry into the fashion phenomenon, Sania Maskatiya is now a household name. In conversation about her multiple collections that will grace 2015, she asserts, “We are continuously working around the clock to create new ensembles, thus cannot put a numerical value to them. We have many exciting projects lined up for this year and will reveal closer to time.”
On ambitious plans to expand her brand, she says, “This year, the brand plans to further expand into exciting territories — we are coming up with a new line of products that will for sure excite customers.”
Currently, the designer is tapping into the lawn market again — this time, in collaboration with AlKaram Textile Mills. Initially, teaming up with Sapphire Textiles two years back, she lends thoughts on the lawn market, saying, “Many designers and industrial professionals have become aware of the huge market for lawn as consumers are always looking at different designs and aesthesis.”
Discussing the escalation of the market, she says, “Two years back, there were only a handful of designers who took the initiative to craft lawn. However, as the market is in a constant state of growth there is always room for more.”
The designer, at the moment has her hands full with the upcoming TFPW2015. Talking about her recent collection, she says, “We will be showcasing ‘Khayat — the tailor’, which uses a plush colour palette, from the demure to the flamboyant.”
The collection uses deluxe silks to utilitarian denims as alternative canvases on which flash images from a kaarigar’s workshop glide eloquently by print motifs such as tape measure, rolls of thread, buttons, needles, ribbons, and rope feature alongside near-neon paint splashes and geometric patterns, according to the press release. Sections of light embroidery paired with vibrant graphic designs will also be a dominant trend.
Finally, she reveals how she sees the trend picking up after TFPW 2015 comes to a close. “In everyday wear, women are looking for trendy prints, which are comfortable but chic. Sleeker, chic silhouettes will be all the rage this season,” says the designer.
