Poor performance: Explanation notice issued to Dr Zafar Ejaz

KARACHI: The health department has issued explanation notice to Karachi executive district officer Dr Zafar Ejaz over his poor performance and ignorance of orders of relevant authorities.

On the directives of Health Minister Jam Mahtab Hussain Dahar, the explanation letter was issued to him on Thursday.

The minister was unhappy when he visited the health centres in Malir and Gadap last week and found medical equipment purchased in 2006 in bad state. A stock of expired medicines was also found from the health facilities. Ejaz was directed to cancel the detailment of the doctors but he did not obey the orders.

Meanwhile, the medical superintendent of Shikarpur Civil Hospital, Dr Shaukat Memon, has also been removed from his post. Dahar has strictly directed hospital managements to perform duties honestly or else he will take stern action against them.
