SUKKUR: A man accused of murder, who was in custody on a seven-day remand, escaped from the Civil Line police station in Jacobabad on Wednesday.

Bashir Ahmed was sent to jail on charges of killing a woman, named Quratul Ain, around 10 days ago, said SP investigations Barkat Ali Domki. Ahmed escaped the police station in the middle of the night.

Meanwhile, DPO Pervez Ahmed Chandio has issued directives for the arrest of six policemen, including the Station Investigation Officer Shabbir Sehto and night incharge head constable Shadi Khan Lashari.

Bashir Ahmed somehow escaped custody in the night but was found missing only when the day incharge arrived the next morning. Domki added that Quratul Ain’s family protested against the police for losing the accused. The family accused the police of taking bribe and deliberately allowing the prisoner to escape.
