The Sindh High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the provincial chief secretary, home secretary and police chief to submit comments by February 20 on a petition seeking security for the family of Suleman Lashari, the 18-year-old student allegedly shot dead by Salman Abro, the son of a police SSP, and his guards on May 8, 2014.

The victim's father, Ghulam Mustafa Lashari, went to court seeking a directive for the home secretary and police authorities to provide them with security. He told the judges that the court had ordered the police to give him and his family due protection but the IG and his subordinates were not complying with the orders.

The petitioner complained of receiving constant threats from the key accused's father, Ghulam Sarwar Abro, who is serving as SSP of the Police Training Centre, Sakrand.
