Man arrested for killing friend

CPO says killers of two businessmen identified.

FAISALABAD: Sargodha Road police said on Tuesday they had arrested a man for killing another, within 24 hours of the murder.

Madina Town SP Owais Malik told the media Javaid Akhtar Ansari, a resident of Hajveri Town, had filed a complaint that his nephew Abdur Rehman had gone missing on January 17.

Ansari said Rehman worked in a local textile mills. He came home from duty in the evening of January 17 when he received a call on his cell phone from an anonymous. He left the house on a motorcycle after taking the call and never returned, Ansari said.

Police registered a case on January 18 under Section 365 (kidnapping) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The next day, police received a call about the beheaded body of a man was lying near a drain in Chak 202, Bhai Wala.

Police took the body into custody. The deceased was later identified as Rehman. Using the data from Rehman’s cell phone, police found that his friend Farooq Ahmad Mughal was living near the area where the body was found.

Police raided Mughal’s house but it was locked. Police raided some more places and took him into custody. During investigation he confessed to having killed Rehman and produced the head of the deceased. Police also seized a dagger that Mughal had used for the murder.CPO Sohail Tajik has announced cash prize for the raiding team.

Murderers identified

Tajik said police had identified the murderers of two businessmen who were killed last week. He said police were conducting raids to arrest them. He condoled with the family of the deceased.

He was speaking at a meeting at Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The CPO said police were committed to protecting the life and property of citizens.

He said all SPs in the city would regularly visit the FCCI and resolve the issues of businessmen. He said some citizens made prank calls at 15, a police emergency helpline.

Earlier, MNA Mian Abdul Mannan police officers should visit police stations in plainclothes to monitor the performance of police officials there.
