LAHORE:

The city district government on Thursday issued notices to owners of 90 commercial buildings for failing to follow fire-safety regulations.

The notices were issued after city government officials completed a survey of several high-rise buildings in the city.

The survey found that 90 buildings did not either have fire extinguishers or fire escape routes.

One of the buildings was located in Data Ganj Bakhsh Town, 10 of them were situated in Shalamar Town, nine of them were in Allama Iqbal Town, 25 of these buildings were in Ravi Town, four of them were in Aziz Bhatti Town, 22 of them in Gulberg Town and eight in Nishtar Town.

The owners of the buildings have been directed to build fire escape routes and have fire-extinguishers at every floor.

The city district government has warned the owners of the buildings of stern action if they failed to comply with the regulations.
