KARACHI: The Anti-Encroachment Police of the Board of Revenue filed a case against eight people, including the DIG police’s son, for illegally occupying public land.

In a drive to get public land back from the hold of land grabbers, the police registered a case against the DIG’s son, Imtiaz Khoso, Khadim, Gul Hassan, Gul Muhammad, Murtaza Khoso, Mithu Khoso, Ismail Khoso and Muhammad Ali Khoso.

But the police could only arrest Khadim, Gul Hassan and Gul Muhammad as others escaped.

These men are allegedly involved in illegally occupying hundreds of acres of public land in the Gadap and Bin Qasim towns.

After the occupation, they are accused of opening fake bank accounts and selling them fraudulently.

A separate police force, under the Board of Revenue’s land utilisation department, was formed to curb the illegal occupation of public land and encroachments and arrest the ‘land mafia’.
